Summer Camp in CHM

Kaeden attended 2 weeks of summer camp in Children's House and he enjoyed it alot. I am so relieved to see him adapting well to a different school environment and making new friends. Well done, my boy!

Update on Myself

It has been about 2 months since we left our comfort zone and came over to Potatoland. Not everyday is a sunny day but well... we will survive :)

After 2 weeks of 'holidaying' in Boise, reality stuck almost instantly the moment we stepped into base! Walker had to rush with the handover from LQ so he was hardly home at all! I really cannot imagine the nightmare if we REALLY had just landed from the airport with 2 jet-lag kids and a hay-wired dog!

Now that we have finally settle down, my daily chores are filled with endless washing, cooking & chauffeuring the kids around! How can a sahm be more demanding than any full-time job?!?!?!

Since I have signed up for this task (quite unwillingly though) for the next 2 years, I will make the best out of it... Karen DUN LIKE TO FAIL (as much as I can)... Wish me luck!

1st checkup in MHAFB

The kids went for their 1st checkup at the base's hospital and never did we expect it to be such a traumatizing experience for ALL of us!

I was told that both Kaeden & Ashlyn were short of a couple of jabs from the requirement here BUT 5 and 2 for them respectively?????? OMG...

Needless to say, I ended up with a grouchy preschooler and a crying baby for the rest of the day :(

Just a bit more

Ash is trying to sit up from a tummy down position!

She lifted her tummy off the ground...

And then she managed to straighten her left leg...

While trying to pull out her right leg, she fell backward with a loud thud! Heehee, luckily our floor is carpeted else she will end up with a big bump on her head!

Kaeden's shark teeth

Shark teeth is a term used to describe the situation when a child's permanent teeth start to grow in before he loses his baby teeth.

Can you imagine the surprise when we saw the tip of the left lower incisor sprouting behind Kaeden's baby teeth???

I was told that this is rather common but still I couldn't help thinking about it. Hope this doesn't affect the alignment of his teeth *sob sob*

Back to basic...

Back in Singapore, I have hardly tried cooking anything from its basic ingredient as everything is so readily available!

However, in Potatoland, such skills became essential if we want to satisfy our cravings for certain food from home...

Other than Pandan cake (which was a success), I have succeeded in making Chinese Carrot Cake *yum yum*

Some of the raw ingredients used...

Mixing them altogether...

After steaming...

Ta-da! Fried Carrot cake in Sweet Soy Sauce!

Next up... will be Chwee Kueh & Char Siew! *drool*

Friends in Potatoland

Yesmin and I have been friends before I even step foot into US. We so happened to know each other from SMH during our 2nd pregnancy together. How coincident isn't it?

I am really very thankful for her presence during this period of settling down. She has made everything for me so much easier.

Our visit to Legacy Park with our children

Ashlyn & Issac in their strollers...

Ian and Kaeden feeding the ducks...

Joan and Stacey are my neighbours and they are really nice people. I have always wish to know them better and be able to do stuff together with them. Hope they don't find me too troublesome with two kids in tow... *must try to think positive*

I invited them over to my place for a baking session yesterday. Just bought a Kitchenaid and the girls can't wait to see its power. Its was fun baking a Pandan Cake together and am glad that both of them enjoyed themselves. Ashlyn and Kaeden have been a good host :)

Our Lawn

Part of our housing responsibilities here include taking care of our lawn and for people like us that couldn't even keep our cactus alive, THIS IS really a challenge!

We are so thankful that our lawn is just a small rectangular piece in our backyard... but STILL, Walker managed to KILL it! LOLx

Few days ago when our lawn was still 'alive' with the boys trying to 'maintain' it...

and now... its a cao-ta, unevenly-cut patches of ugly grass!!!

So how? Gotta replant it lor... before we get a warning for KILLING our lawn! Wish us luck!

Ashlyn @ 7 Months Old

Ash turned 7 months some weeks back and she is really cute. I have started her on protein and she seems to like it. It's hard to find fresh fish here so we gotta make do with frozen ones or settle for other source of protein.

New dish for this week... Pasta with cod fish & butternut squash!

It still amaze me how sensitive Ash's taste buds are despite her young age. I have tried feeding her jar food twice and each time, she spited them out with a disgusted look on her face! This little girl is super particular about her food. Now that her 2 bottom front teeth are cutting through her gums, she is even harder to please :(

Independence Day

Its a long weekend over here in Potatoland with the 4th of July holiday falling on a Monday. A pity that we are still bounded by the travel restrictions hence we couldn't drive too far out from Boise.

We took a short road trip down to Emmett for Cherry picking instead. Another one of our new experiences for the Walker's family :)

Looking down @ Emmett from mid-point. Beautiful, isn't it?

Yeah! We are HERE!

First time seeing Cherries on tree (unless you count those we saw on Farmville! lolx) We were happily picking them from the nearest tree till we realised we should be targetting those purplish ones instead of the bright red...

Princess not happy at being left out. The weather was freaking HOT lor!

Daddy doing the hardwork...

Our bucket full of Cherries @ $10 only!!!
