Baby No 1: Week 15 & Day 2

Finally, the long “awaited” day is here – Triple Blood Test!!!

This morning, I woke up with an “all ready to go for war” mood. The thing that I have feared for so long is at last here.

Every time the nurse called my name, my heart will skip a beat, wondering is it time for the “big thing” already. However, it is after waiting close to 3 hours that we finally took the blood test.

I felt so ashamed of my cowardness after the whole thing. The moment I sat down waiting for the nurse to prepare the syringe, I felt as if I am ready to faint anytime. I think the look on my face is so obvious that the nurse took the effort to calm me down with some comforting words.

I started chewing on my fingers long before the nurse proceed to draw the blood. Surprisingly, it’s was a painless process! I have to admit that the nurse’s skill was superb! In the end, I think the pain from the bite mark on my fingers is far worse than the pain on my forearm.

Baby No 1: Week 11 & Day 3

Hubby and I were looking forward to a good rest during this holidays-filled week! It so happened that the checkup was scheduled in between the Deepavali and Hari Raya Puasa holidays, thus, we might as well take leave for today so as to enjoy a longer stretch of rest!

Dressed in casual attire, the mood was indeed very relaxed at the clinic. We waited for about an hour before it is our turn. The scan today is expected to take a slightly longer time as Dr Ho will be doing a Nuchal Transparency Test on the baby to test for Down Syndrome.

A warm smile greeted us as we stepped into the room. The nurse usher me straight to the scanning area to get me prepared while waiting for Dr Ho. In the process of the test, Dr Ho used the scanner to jerk my tummy a couple of times, trying to make baby turn, however, baby was still bouncing around and refusing to cooperate. Moments ago, its fingers were placed inside its mouth and another, it was stretching itself. Took us more than 30 minutes before completing the scan but I enjoyed every single minute of it. Baby was certified as “Normal” by Dr Ho. From the look on Daddy’s face, he was obviously very proud of his active baby. He claimed that baby is his “Champion kid”! He obviously is neglecting the fact that poor Mummy’s has got to suffer his baby’s acrobatic stunts for the following months!

My estimated delivery date has been brought forward to 18 May 2006.
