Baby No 1: Week 35 & Day 3

Another visit to Dr Ho again! I have called the clinic few days ago to check on the outcome of my V-Swab and Glucose test, really heave a sigh of relieve when I heard that everything is alright!

As expected on every visit as mentioned before by the nurse, I will be strap onto the CTG machine for 20 minutes to monitor Kaeden’s heartbeat – seems like this is a “must” for all diabetic patient but I am fine with it as long as it is not painful or uncomfortable J!

From the ultra scan, seems like Kaeden is still in breech position…urghhh!!! Dr Ho commented that he is unlikely to turn as he had been comfortably in this position all this while. Seems like no choice but will have to wait for next visit’s scan again. Guess if he still doesn’t turn, most likely Dr Ho will arrange a date to schedule me for C-Section. Mum commented that Kaeden must be as lazy as I am since I was in breech position during my time also... really is “Like mother like son” - *FAINT*

Baby No 1: Week 33 & Day 3

I noticed that the frequency of my visit to Dr Ho has been increased to fortnightly ever since my blood scare during Week 26. Not that it is a bad thing but as the weeks goes by, I am starting to feel that reality is setting in – I am going to be someone’s Mummy soon!!! I have spent the last few weekends washing baby stuff and arranging things in the nursery. Most of the things are considered done except that the playpen is still not set up yet as Mum has advised against, saying that its very “pantang”.

We have also settled on Kaeden’s Chinese name. After much thoughts and discussion, we have decided on Zhong Kai Yi (钟恺义). 恺 – means happiness and 义 – means meaningful / significance, together they represent a meaningful life fill with happiness and joy

In the bible, parents prayed over the names of their children and it sort of signify the blessings and their calling in life. Thus, we hope that the name we have decided for Kaeden will be a reflection of the blessings he will have from us for the rest of his life.

Today’s visit to Dr Ho seems to fill with plenty of tests to be done. It started out with a simple finger-prick blood test to check whether am I suffering from Anaemia (a deficiency of red blood cells) followed by a CTG scan to test for baby’s heartbeat and signs of contractions. Guess the results for the first two tests look alright as Dr Ho did not mentioned much on it and proceeded with the “Growth Scan” check for Kaeden. Kaeden’s estimated weight is around 2.1 kg and he is currently still in breech position. Dr Ho reassured me that it is normal at this stage and will monitor again during my next visit. A V-Swab test was then done to check for Group B Streptococcus (which is a bacterium that causes life-threatening infections in newborn infants when they pass through the vagina during natural birth).

Thought the worst was over but the truth is – it is yet to come! Before I left Dr Ho’s office, he has arranged for a blood test to be done at the laboratory downstairs. According to him, this was to check how well I monitored my glucose level for the past 6 weeks. Sigh... another pathetic day :( Now must really pray hard that the test results will come back alright else there will be more sufferings for me again. *Cross my fingers*
